Timing Belt
A timing belt, also known as a cam belt, is a crucial component in the internal combustion engine of a vehicle. It is responsible for synchronizing the rotation of the crankshaft and the camshaft, ensuring that the valves open and close at the precise time during the engine’s operation. Made of a durable rubber material reinforced with high-strength fibers, timing belts are designed to withstand the demanding conditions within the engine compartment. Over time, however, the timing belt can experience wear and tear, leading to potential issues such as misalignment or even belt failure. Regular inspection and timely replacement of the timing belt are essential to maintain the engine’s optimal performance and prevent costly damage.
Changing a timing belt on a Honda Civic 2004-2006 CF is a very tedious job and requires a great skill as chances of ruining the timings are great. The technician must be fully prepared and have following already in hand before starting.
Why Genuine timing belt ?
We always recommend a genuine Timing belt as this engine has interfering valve angles and if you snap the belt the engine will be permanently damaged.

Alignment Signs
We used a feeler guage to take measurements and locate all the alignment signs before opening the belt to make sure about its fitment and clean any hidden marks
Cam Pulley
Cam pulley must be at UP (sign display) and slots on cam pulley must align the top of head.

Taking measurements before removing
Crank Pulley
The crank Pulley mark and arrow on block is very difficult to locate, this is where the technicians make an error and cause the engines to permanently loose power after re-installing a timing belt, only highly skilled technicians are able to do it perfectly.

Taking measurements before removing
Timing Bearing
This model of Civic has a complex design on a timing bearing, to make the belt last longer this bearing takes the tension out from the belt when it is idling but this also involves a trick to install and tighten the belt perfectly, once the belt is aligned a lock is removed which is in the highlighted part and it automatically tightens the belt. So be very careful aligning the teeth of the belt from top to bottom.
